Calculation method
Length and mass use conversion factors relative to metres and kilograms. Temperature uses the relationships between Celsius, Fahrenheit and kelvin, including scale offsets, rather than a multiplication factor alone.
Assumptions and limitations
Results are displayed with up to eight decimal places and may be rounded. Displayed decimals do not establish measurement accuracy. This tool does not perform dimensional analysis of formulas or replace a project’s unit checks.

Does the converter include inches?
Yes. The pol option represents an inch, using 0.0254 metres per inch.
Why does temperature require a different formula?
Celsius, Fahrenheit and kelvin use different scales and reference points, so conversion includes the appropriate offsets.
